Thinking and Doing

From the Christian viewpoint, theological thinking is not an end in itself. Christianity is to be lived; it is an issue to action; as long as it remains merely thought it is unChristian and futile. But it is a half-truth because whatever a man [or woman] does depends upon what he thinks and what he holds of ultimate view (William E. Harden in A Layman’s Guide to Protestant Theology).

  1. There is a great divide between the theology most churches claim to believe and their action (or lack thereof). Theology without action is useless-or as James states: ‘faith without works is dead.’ Most churches fail miserably in this area-especially in the area of mercy ministry.
A great book I read recently builds the theology of the kingdom of God and the response that is required: “This Beautiful Mess” by Rick McKinley.
A must read for anyone in mercy
    ministry
